What is a Generic Drug?
A generic drug is a copy of the brand-name drug with the same dosage, safety, strength, quality, consumption method, performance, and intended use. Before generics become available on the market, the generic company must prove it has the same active ingredients as the brand-name drug and works in the same way and in the same amount of time in the body.
The only differences between generics and their brand-name counterparts is that generics are less expensive and may look slightly different (e.g. different shape or color), as trademarks laws prevent a generic from looking exactly like the brand-name drug.
Generics are less expensive because generic manufacturers don't have to invest large sums of money to develop a drug. When the brand-name patent expires, generic companies can manufacture a copy of the brand-name and sell it at a substantial discount.
Description
Your doctor may prescribe Levitra to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), which can stem from various causes, including psychological factors, medical conditions, or lifestyle choices. ED symptoms typically manifest as the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance.
Levitra operates by facilitating increased blood flow to the penis, achieved through the relaxation of blood vessels. For optimal results, it is essential that Levitra is taken in conjunction with sexual stimulation.
Directions
Levitra should be taken precisely as prescribed by your healthcare provider, either with or without food, approximately 60 minutes prior to engaging in sexual activity.
The usual starting dose of Levitra is 10 mg orally, which may be adjusted based on efficacy and tolerability, allowing for an increase to 20 mg or a decrease to 5 mg as deemed appropriate by your doctor.
Ingredients
The active ingredient in Levitra is Vardenafil, a potent medication specifically designed to manage erectile dysfunction. Currently, there is no generic form of Levitra available on the market.
Interactions
It is crucial to inform your doctor and pharmacist about all medications you are currently taking prior to starting Levitra, as there are numerous potential interactions that could affect treatment. Commonly known interactions include:

Prior to taking Levitra, it’s essential to disclose to your physician if you have a history of cardiovascular issues or low blood pressure, as this medication can potentially exacerbate such conditions.

Levitra has been known to affect vision and hearing in certain individuals, leading to temporary disturbances.
Extreme caution is advised for those taking other heart medications or antiarrhythmics to avoid adverse effects.
If you experience a painful erection lasting four hours or more, seek immediate medical attention, as prolonged erection can lead to serious complications.
